SOS Cool Ties - Sewing For Soldiers!

This fantastic idea has come to us from Mary Anne who's seen people in the States making them for their soldiers for some time.  Mary Anne will be co-ordinating the project so if you've any questions please email her.

"The Cool Tie is a great way to beat the heat. The "science" in these comes from tiny non-toxic polymer crystals that hold many times their weight in water. By soaking the Cool Tie in cold water these crystals swell up into a gel and become a comfortable, handy evaporative cooler that can lower body temperature by several degrees!

Cool Ties are an easy and affordable way for us to help our troops to try and stay cool! At the height of summer the temperature in Iraq and Afghanistan can reach into the 100’s F. Operating in these temperatures and keeping a cool clear head is very difficult, under normal circumstances, but in these highly dangerous areas it is vitally important.
Quite simply this simple piece of fabric could make all the difference, and indeed could even save lives.
